Down to business

The committee had its first official meeting on 6 May in the library. There was one point on the agenda: the business plan.

We agreed that we should aim for a three-year plan and set out two key points: the service we aim to provide and how it will be funded. All being well, year one will centre of matching the existing service provided by Bucks CC. In years two and three, additional funding from trusts and foundations, local businesses, community fundraising and/or commercial/revenue raising activity will hopefully allow the friends to tailor the service to better meet the needs of the community.

The committee will be meeting about every fortnight to continue work on the plans. Once a draft is prepared, the committee will seek feedback from the community.

Minutes from the meeting will be available shortly on the minutes page. To find out about up coming community meetings, which are open to all, please visit the meetings page.

About Friends of Ivinghoe Library

In late 2010, Bucks County Council announced that it was minded to transfer 14 libraries to community control - including Ivinghoe. The Friends of Ivinghoe Library was reconstituted in March 2011 to explore how the community could take a bigger role in running the library. In the coming weeks and months, the group will put together a business plan.
